Printed Interconnect Cables

Brewer Science can develop printed flexible cables for obsolete and new designs used in the refurbishing/manufacturing of electronics. Further development of this interconnect cable program will include FHE components to deliver a “smart cable” that may be used to correct issues on new and existing products. This could be a simple filter to remove noise from a circuit or a more advanced microcontroller for signal conditioning. Our design expertise and custom printing methods allow our flexible cable replacements to be a unique solution to your needs.

What Are Interconnect Cables?

Interconnect cables are typically electrical or optical connections that allow people to connect two or more devices together either electrically or mechanically through other conductors. Common examples of interconnect cables are HDMI cables, audio cables, and coaxial cables.

Why printed interconnects?

The flexibility and form factor of a printed interconnect provides users the ability to connect devices that may otherwise be difficult to connect with rigid interconnects, while improving cost of ownership.

Potential Applications

  • Long-lifespan electronics
  • Obsolete parts used in electronics refurbishing/remanufacturing
  • Displacement of low-voltage wiring harnesses
  • Flexible interconnects where traditional FR4 PCBs will not perform

Benefits

  • Enables printed electronics printing capabilities and validates manufacturing line
  • Remanufacture of high-value/long-life products that have obsolete components to allow manufacturers to continue this process and extend the products’ useful life
  • Design flexibility to bend around corners
  • FHE integration to produce a “smart cable”
  • Extends existing product shelf life
