July 15, 2015 – Belle, MO – Brewer Science is bringing science and art together for a festival of creativity that will benefit science classrooms in Missouri public schools. The Rolla-based global technology company is sponsoring a Science and Art Festival, which includes the Mad Scientist 5K run/walk, on Saturday, July 25, beginning at 4:00 p.m. The public and children of all ages are invited to come to beautiful Prairie Star Restoration Farm, located at 117 Osage County Road 741, Belle, Missouri, to enjoy an evening of science and art.
Proceeds from the event will benefit science classrooms at the Belle and Vienna schools, and Brewer Science will match a portion of the funds raised at this event. The sponsorship is part of the company’s commitment to enhancing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education in Missouri schools.
The Science and Art Festival is an opportunity for the community to enjoy an evening of fun at the Prairie Star Restoration Farm where science, creativity, and innovation will be showcased in a beautiful environment. The festival is an investment in the innovators of tomorrow, with all proceeds going to support science classrooms in the Belle and Vienna schools.
The festival begins at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, and includes child-friendly hands-on science experiments led by Brewer Science interns and co-op students. The festival also includes a demonstration by the Rolla Robotics team, science activities with the Kaleidoscope Discovery Center and the Sinquefield Invention Lab, and art activities by the Osage Arts Community. There will be carnival food, a wagon ride, and the opportunity to take a nature hike. The suggested donation for the Science and Art Festival is $2 for those 13 and up; $1 for children ages 3-12; and no charge for those 2 and younger.
Those interested are invited to participate in the Mad Scientist 5K Run/Walk, which will cover an off-road course and is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. The entry fee is $25 per person or $60 for a team of 3. Team plaques will be awarded to the top 3 teams of 3. Individual medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age group by gender. The age group categories are 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. All run/walk participants will receive a t-shirt, a chip-timed race, and entry into the Family Fun Event.
